London Lions win historic fourth consecutive WBBL Playoff title

London Lions got a dominant 92-65 win over Newcastle Eagles to secure a record-breaking fourth consecutive WBBL Playoff title at the O2 Arena on Sunday.

Coach Stella Kaltsidou’s side completed an unbeaten season, winning all 20 regular season games, the WBBL Trophy and a EuroCup title.

Abby Meyers was named MVP with a Playoff Final record 31-point performance, scoring 21 of her points in the first half as the Sixth Player of the Year also broke the record for most three-pointers in a Playoff Finals with six.

Savannah Wilkinson recorded a 13-point, 10-rebound double-double, adding five assists to her tally, while Ivana Katanic and Kat Snytsina – in her last game before retiring, added 11 points a-piece.

The Lions dominated domestically, placing three players in the Team of the Year, including Temi Fagbenle who’s been named MVP, but has since departed to the WNBA.

Tierra Hodges led the Eagles with a double-double, recording 21 points and 12 rebounds. Lauren Saiki tied the playoff final record of 12 assists.
