Vince Macaulay takes over as Artland Dragons head coach in Germany

Vince Macaulay has been announced as the new head coach of German Pro-A side Arland Dragons for the 2024-25 season.

The 63-year-old, founder and former owner of the London Lions, has had a long-serving association with the British Basketball League, but heads overseas for the first time as a head coach.

Macaulay had a long spell in various roles with London Lions – twice winning the BBL Coach of the Year award – whilst most recently spending a season at Manchester Giants, before his exit in 2023.

“I am very happy to be the new head coach of the Artland Dragons,” Macaulay said, via release. “The club has a great history. With conscientious preparation and enthusiasm, we can build on those times. We want to show Dragons basketball that our fans can identify with.”

Artland Dragons finished 14th in the German second division with an 11-23 record – missing out on the playoffs – and were last part of the top flight in 2015.
